Ken Elmes has just recently retired after a second term as Secretary and he and I have worked together for nearly 14 years since his appointment as a Trustee of the WEHA on 12th June 2000. During all those years Ken has been a stalwart supporter of the Charity and has worked tirelessly as Acting Chairman during the late Dennis Wood’s prolonged illness and later as Secretary to ensure its continuing success.
I can say, without fear of contradiction, that without his hard work and input over the period since the Festival 2011, we would not have achieved our current success in rebuilding the fund, whilst continuing to make our regular quarterly donations to the Family Support Groups at The Margaret Centre, Whipps Cross and at St Francis Hospice Havering.
Needless to say I would also wish to say how delighted we are to welcome Tony Curtis to the Board of Trustees as our new Secretary and announce that the WEHA will now have its permanent home at Chingford Masonic Hall where Tony may be contacted on 020 8524 5142 or email at tony.curtis@weha.org.uk.
